Pusat Pungutan Zakat

Zakat or “alms giving” is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It is mandatory for all Muslim who possesses the minimum Nisab. The other pillars being Syahadah, Solat, Sawm / Fasting during Ramadhan, and perfoming Hajj or pilgrimage to Mecca. Zakat is compulsory for eliglible Muslim in order to help people who are in needs of helps, known as asnaf. Zakat starts being compulsory during the second year of Hijrah.

Firman Allah s.w.t.

Translation

"O dear Prophet (Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him) take the obligatory charity from their wealth, by which you may cleanse them and make them pure, and pray in their favour; indeed your prayer is the contentment of their hearts; and Allah is All Hearing, All Knowing." - Surah At Taubah (103).

Sabda Rasulullah SAW:

Translation

"I am commanded to fight disbelievers until they testify that there is no diety but God and Muhammad is the messenger of God, and establish prayer and practice zakah".
